OUM Lifeboat for people on cwcom.net, cwc.net and mcmail.com servers which NTL are terminating on 30th November.

When Bob Garrow recently received an e mail from NTL to tell him his business website and e mail address would terminate on 30th November he checked with them and was assured yes this would happen. Bob has now joined with John Lyons at Netserve Consultants to launch a lifeboat for the thousands of customers jettisoned.

The new service is called OUM, Our Users Matter . The OUM service registers a domain name chosen by each customer which becomes their e mail and website address. The domain is the property of the customer and OUM has no hostage or exit charges and offers forwarding to those who for business reasons are moving to other domains or providers. Customers dial up as with the NTL service. Boring but necessary details are at www.oum.biz .

Bob Garrow said today "no customer of OUM need ever lose their e mail and website addresses and be faced with replacing business stationery, lost search engine rankings, trade directory entries and the numerous internet subscriptions which now ask for your e mail address as ID. As we have no exit barriers we look after our customers."

John Lyons commented "Customers may have chosen to buy their internet access and email

services from large companies such as NTL believing them to be more stable and offer better service. Time and time again customers find themselves faced with poor services and faceless, inadequate customer support. Large companies lose touch with their customers needs so it is very easy for the grey suits to close down services without giving any thought to the customers that they are affecting. Netserve strives to provide a quality personal service at a cost effective price."

OUM are pressing as ahead as fast as NTL will allow in exploring whether the cwcom.net, cwc.net and mcmail.com servers and addresses can be adopted to allow continuation of the e mail and website addresses, either for a reasonable period to allow orderly close down or more or less indefinitely as a forwarding platform.

People registering at the www.oum.biz lifeboat website will be kept up to date with progress on whether the existing addresses can continue. Shortly they can register on line and transfer to their own chosen domain on the OUM service.
